We are delighted to the announce that following their first Ofsted Inspection from 16-18 November 2021, Ofsted have judged The Cornerstone Academy to be ‘Good’ in all areas. Ofsted said that “Cornerstone Academy is a happy, caring school. Pupils who previously have been disengaged from education thrive and achieve well”.
Established by Damien Sweeney, Headteacher in January 2019, The Cornerstone Academy has only been formally open for just over a year making this achievement even more commendable during the current challenges and obstacles the pandemic has presented.
The Academy, part of The YES Trust (Youth Engagement Schools Trust) operates across two sites in East Cheshire, with a small provision at Marlfields Primary Academy in Congleton and a larger provision at The Stables in Crewe. The Cornerstone Academy is an innovative and different type of school that provides opportunities for children in Reception to Year 6, who are currently unable to meet the demands of mainstream education, to re-engage and foster a love of learning. The overriding ethos of the Academy, is to unlock the potential of vulnerable, disengaged children to realise their tremendous potential and equip them with the resilience and knowledge to achieve and develop positive futures both academically and socially.
