The Keystone Academy

Catering and caring for up to 120 pupils, The Keystone Academy is a specialist school for children aged 4-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and difficulties.  It brings together the vision of The YES Trust with that of Shropshire Local Authority, aiming to provide an excellent specialist school for students with SEMH, including those with neurodivergent needs. The school opened in September 2022, and moved in to its brand new building in November 2023.

As a new school, we are lucky enough to have a brand-new building being purpose-built for our cohort’s needs. Our building consists of sensory rooms, a state of the art 3d room, a computer suite, a design and technology workshop, new therapeutic classroom spaces and more.

The vision for The Keystone Academy is to provide excellence for every student. With a highly-trained, specialised team, the school supports the entire cohort’s needs, particularly focusing on those students with specialist neurodiversity needs; with an aspirational environment to recapture an often lost passion for learning and creativity.

‘Keystone’ represents far more than just a name for a school.  It neatly summarises our vision for the Academy, and expresses the ethos for education we strive to provide; being the centre support mechanism for our learners underpinned with an ethos focused on positive achievement and success at every stage. The staff strive to provide a child centred approach to learning boosting core literacy, numeracy and life skills; while developing their personal, social and emotional skills; Leading to high quality academic and vocational achievement and positive post-16 destinations.
