The Vireo Academy

Part of the Black Country AP, The Vireo Academy is an Alternative Provision SEN Academy, and also provides home and hospital education. 

The Academy caters for up to 130 pupils from Year 7 to Year 11, and works closely with the LA and local high schools to ensure the best possible provision and safeguarding for some of the most vulnerable learners in Wolverhampton.

The Academy offers a full-time provision for young people in key stage 3 and 4 who require Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) support including those with a diagnosis of autism. They also welcome referrals for young people with medical needs resulting in them having difficulties in accessing mainstream education. 

The Academy also provides a specialist centre that works in partnership with key agencies to offer appropriate intervention to vulnerable students with medical and mental health needs in a supportive and structured setting. This includes both the primary and secondary phase that are referred from mainstream schools, medical and psychological practitioners for various reasons. 

The focus is on the individual student and ensuring that they are able to regain their rightful place in society and the wider world.

The staff work hard and endeavour to improve life chances of every young person who they work with by providing a holistic approach to teaching and learning and celebrating success. This is delivered through classroom teaching, personalised learning and meaningful interventions enabling every young person the opportunity to reach the success that they deserve.
